Magnets attached to the back of each figure allow children to place pieces anywhere they desire instead of fumbling around with buttons or snaps. Pieces are stored in pockets around a wooden frame and added to the magnetic background each day.

*I've had a lot of interest in this pattern and a lot of questions, so I've answered some of the most frequent questions here.
*What can you expect to be included in your pattern? Twenty pages of detailed step-by-step instructions to make the advent calendar pictured above. None of the supplies are included.
*What supplies will you need? You'll need Heat n Bond for tracing the figures on, fabric, felt, magnets, interfacing, wood frame and scrap metal.
*What sewing skills are needed to create the advent calendar? The only sewing involved is in making the pockets, which are just straight lines of sewing. Even a beginner can do it. The rest is ironing and cutting! Give it a try, you'll be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is.
*How long does the calendar take to make? I made mine in about a month (working an hour or so every day), but that was when I was working without a pattern, so it shouldn't take you as long. Remember, you can always make the frame by December 1st, and then finish at least one figure everyday through December.
