After the piece is dry it is bisque fired, glazed with up to four separate colors and fired to 2375F over at least 14 hours in our wood kiln. The kiln then allowed to cool over a period of three days. Before firing, every piece receives at least three pieces of clay on the bottom called "wadding" which leave small "fingerprints" at the base. You will only find these marks on pottery that is fired through wood or salt firing. Wood fired pieces also carry unique marks depending upon their location in the kiln and how much wood ash falls on the ware.
