The painting I chose is Paul Gauguin’s Arearea – Joyousness (1892) (see: http://bit.ly/eXlJTN). This is one of my all-time favourite paintings.
I love this painting for so many reasons, the composition, the exotic feel to it and the colours. Both the exoticism and the colours are what inspired me to create this bag.
The bag was beadembroidered around three gorgeous MAKUstudio ( http://www.etsy.com/shop/makustudio ) One-of-a-Kind (OOAK) ceramic cabochons (1 heart and 2 discs), 4 beautiful Swarovski crystals in Montana Sapphire, burn orange and Golden Shadow, 4 Swarovski Crystal Copper elongated bicones and loads of multicoloured fresh-water pearls all beadembroidered with Japanese seed bead in light bronze, dark copper, Swarovski Montana Sapphire crystals and Czech copper bugles.
The bag is made entirely by hand (hand stitched) in chocolate brown genuine suede, and is lined in bright purple Ultrasuede. The frame is an antique-light copper metal purse frame.
The strap is a gorgeous and sturdy beadwoven spiral rope encrusted with the Swarovski Montana Sapphire crystals and the multicoloured fresh-water pearls
Width: 8” (c. 20.5 cm)
Height: 9 ¼” (c. 23.5 cm)
Depth: 1 ¼” (c. 3.5 cm)
Strap length: 22” (c. 56 cm)
This is an incredible piece of OOAK wearable art, a small/medium-sized bag big enough to keep all your essential (mobile phone, keys, lipstick, small wallet/purse, perfect for an evening out.
