Mandala is Sanskrit for circle. It represents a snapshot of time in the universe from beginning to end. A Mandala suggests unity, completion, and wholeness. Being centered within one’s self. As with all Mandala work the paintings are circular in design and manifest three basic properties; center, symmetry, and the cardinal points of north, south, east, and west. In addition, each Mandala contains “energy” depicted by the gold threads of lines which radiate in and out of the center point. These “energy lines”, in various forms and colors, have been a consistent element in my artwork since I began painting.
All of the original Mandala paintings in this ongoing series are 24 x 24 inches.
I began painting the series in 2001 and have exhibited them periodically since then.
