Fabric: Dupioni Silk
Floss: Pima cotton in Ambrosia (077) from Caron Collection Watercolours, DMC Pearl Cotton,

Song of Songs #9 is a departure from the previous pieces in this collection, but features the same gorgeous Caron Collection hand painted pima cotton variegated floss as several others in this collection, along with a touch of DMC’s pearl cotton. The Caron Collection color is called “Ambrosia,” and is from their "watercolours" series. The pima cotton floss is hand painted by the people at the Caron Collection. Ambrosia is a color also used in parts of Song of Songs #4.
The change in piece, is that it features words Song of Songs 1:2, instead of the wooing lovers, but has the same style of swirling embroidery flowing around it. The text has been printed directly onto the fabric. The phrase I chose for this piece Song of Songs 1:2, “Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth--for thy love is better than wine,” is one of the many that has inspired the entire collection.
The message of this series is simple: Love, Sensuality, Senses, Beauty. Each is unique and works as a stand-alone piece, but they are gorgeous when clustered together in groups.
Song of Songs #9 is permanently framed in a wooden embroidery hoop that has been sanded and then painted glistening gold. It has a custom made hanger of cotton embroidery floss that matches the overall colors of the piece, and is similar in style, but not color, to all the other in the Song of Songs collection. The piece is signed in ink with my cipher, a pomegranate and the Hebrew letter kuf.
