And find me on Facebook - search Butterfly Road
I search the local landscape for butterfly and dragonfly wings to create one of a kind pieces of wearable art. I do not purchase, raise or capture the butterflies. I rely solely on finding ones that have already died. I find many of them along roadsides which serves as a good reminder of the beauty we pass by each day and of the impact we have on the natural environment. To make a lightweight yet durable display of natures art I cut two thin pieces of glass (approximately 1mm thick), following the unique lines of each wing, then grind them so that they are as close to the same shape and size as possible. I place the wing between the glass then join them with silver solder. I use a variety of gemstones, precious and semi-precious, to complement the ornate patterns and bold coloration of the butterflies.
