The very last of the stone fruit jams I made this summer was this batch of Mirabelle plum jams. Mirabelles are arguably the best variety of plum for jams and desserts. They are tiny, not much bigger than a large cherry or grape, yet totally packed with flavor. They're The Little Plum That Could!

This particular variety is called Reine de Mirabelle, believed to be a cross between Mirabelle and Reine Claude plums, so they are slightly greener than the bright yellow, plain Mirabelles. They came from Andy Mariani's legendary orchard in Morgan Hill, CA.

This jam is on the sweeter side but not at all cloying. It's also thick with lots of big pieces of plum. All in all, this jam is very easy to love and so difficult to resist.
