The DVD begins with "decay utopia decay," a self-investigation into our own low-impact, non-time specific, quasi-utopian lifestyle as it negotiates commodity fetishization, dis-ease and decay shot in glorious regular 8mm black and white in 2008. Ten additional digital adaptations of short films extend the home-movie experience through the addition of original soundtracks by the filmmakers. Also included are videos that use consumer-quality video like film, maintaining a little abstraction and obscurity (however wrong that may be). Three pieces about the incredible Brad & Amber appear next, documenting fragments of these Manitowoc-artists' lives while exploring the presence of the camera as it intrudes upon their beings. The final work, "Circles (to nowhere)" is contradicts "decay utopia decay" with the super 8mm Kodachrome bliss never ending and fueled by mind-altering carbon monoxide and beautiful amber waves of agri-nature. With the sole exception of "Bill's Linotype," all films are transferred "open-air" by craftily videotaping projections, evoking a primitive DIY experience.
