This little Sherlock Holmes bookshelf pillow is 8 1/2 inches square. I put a black eco-felt Shadow Silhouette of the master sleuth on Antique White Ecofelt, and surrounded it, picture frame style, with black and brown houndstooth fabric. The pillow back is black Eco Felt.
This fantastic felt is made by recycling water bottles, so it's keeping bottles out of the landfills and reducing our use of raw materials. Yay!
The houndstooth fabric is a woven blend from an upcycled garment.
This pillow contains a removable insert made of a cotton shell filled with Kapok. This filling is made from the seed of the Kapok tree, which is a renewable resource grown without the need for pesticides or fertilizers. It is naturally non-allergenic, and dust mite proof.
I sew the appliques on, which makes them very secure and gives additional dimension to the design.
The back has an envelope style closure in case you need to remove the pillow insert for washing.
I recommend spot cleaning or hand washing for this pillow cover to prolong its beauty.
