Both the back and front flap of this bag are covered with what I call mosaics. More than 3,600 pieces of fabrics are sewn together. The messenger bag is 14.25”x 10.25”x 3.5”. It is lined and has one large pocket divided into two sections (3”x 4.75” & 6”x 4.75”). The piece work has cotton batting between it & the cotton lining in order to enhance the feel of the piece. There is a removable covered plexiglass plate in the bottom of the bag for reinforcement and additional strength. The shoulder strap is adjustable from 31”- 55”.
First I chose fabrics from a variety of cottons, most of them originating in Africa & Asia. Then the fun begins as I determined their sequence. I choose either a very traditional color combinations or go for something a little more eye jolting. This is pointillism in fiber. I call it mosaics. One can spend a lot of time exploring the colorful surface as though it's a planet's surface. The body of the bag and its strap are made of linen.
To really individualize this bag adorn it with amulets, charms, milagro or other talismans.
I’d loved for this bag to find its special mate.
