The shape is organic, i.e., not round, with a gentle curve upwards and slightly pointed bits at the edges. The glaze is glossy clear and shiny. It's a little bit smaller than this platter that has a similar motif: http://www.etsy.com/listing/59750916/dramatic-high-footed-dots-bowl-in-white.
This platter can be used for serving food - fruit, salad, sides - or treasures, or decorative display. Definitely one of a kind. High-fired stoneware.
Clay color: White
Glaze: Clear glossy
Dimensions: Diameter: 12” at widest ---- Height of foot: 2” ---- Overall height: 3 1/2”
** Additional information about the proper care of ceramics **
My ceramics are food-, oven- and microwave safe. I never take a piece directly out of the fridge and and put it into the oven; ceramics do not respond well to sudden extremes in temperature. Putting clay through these extremes can cause spontaneous cracking and breakage (this is true of many ceramics and glassware). Keep the ceramic piece at room temperature beforehand and warm it up slowly if you are going to use it in the oven.
Wash with warm soapy water and dry the piece by hand as it is gentler on the glaze surface.
