I love working with fabrics that initially seem a bit predictable and sculpting them into something less than expected. This one is sturdy, practical, down-to-earth, blue wool that brings to mind stewardesses and power suits. Fortunately, I came along and rescued from its life of mediocrity. Reminiscent of traditional pencil skirts, the mold was broken by shortening the hem line and adding layers of clean cut petals that tumble down the side. The layers themselves are lightly flounced, and make the skirt more forgiving than the long-established skin tight fit customary in most pencil skirts. Perfect with simple white shirts, cardigans, jackets, and tights, this bladed skirt will give your wardrobe a cutting edge no one will argue with.
