The wrist mala can be worn as a bracelet, as well as being used as a meditation piece or used while saying mantras, affirmations, or counting.
The main part of the wrist mala consists of 27 amazonite 6mm round beads. A single amazonite 10mm round bead provides the focal point, much like a head bead or guru bead in a traditional mala. Twenty-seven - the number of main beads used - is a subset of 108, the number of beads in a traditional mala. Two small 3mm round sterling silver beads were placed on each side of the large amazonite bead to set it off.
The wrist mala bracelet is approximately 7.25 inches (18.4 cm), stretchy for ease in putting on and removing.
Amazonite is a stone that is mainly associated with the heart chakra (the fourth chakra) and throat chakra (the fifth chakra), although it has been said to be soothing to all the chakras. Amazonite is believed to encourage self-determination, reduce stress, and help with feelings of sadness and grief. It is said to be a calming stone that helps release blocked emotions, support communication, and encourage self-expression.
According to Flora Peschek-Bohmer and Gisela Schreiber in Healing Crystals And Gemstones, amazonite “promotes confidence, vitality and joy of life.” Amazonite is also believed to help with creativity, and is believed to be of particular benefit to musicians and writers.
