As of May 2012, we're happy to introduce our second generation iPad Mouthstick Stylus! Since the introduction of this mouth stick in early 2011, we received many requests for a full size mouthpiece. We couldn't find such a ready to use part on the market, so we decided to develop our own. This resulted in an ergonomic mouthpiece that is now an integral part of the mouth stick offering.
The iPad Mouthstick Stylus contains three parts: the mouthpiece, the stick and a conductive plug (tip). The mouthpiece is made from a durable food safe plastic and comes with a set of silicone caps for a snap fit connection with the stick. The stick is 12" (30cm) long and made from anodized aluminum. And the conductive plug uses the same conductive fabric stylus sock concept as all our other iPad styli. All parts are also sold separately (see elsewhere in our shop).

*** History ***
It all started when the wife of a quad / quadriplegic patient ordered a regular iPad Stylus Socks from our Etsy shop. She found out about our conductive socks concept while she was visiting a local Apple store and one of the employees started Googling for a proper solution. Their first approach was to put the conductive sock around the tip of their existing plastic mouth stick. But as you may know, a capacitive touch screen requires some (body) energy to make it work. And with a plastic mouth stick, this means that a wire needs to be wrapped around the stick and into the mouth, which is not very convenient.
Then we made a custom solution for them based on two approaches. One with a fully conductive aluminum mouth stick, and one that uses the iPad body's energy so you can use it with an existing mouth stick of any material (even plastic). We shipped it and got positive feedback on both approaches. We tweeted about it and got in contact with people around the globe dealing with ALS or MS and started supporting them. A few weeks later, already six of these packages got shipped to the US and AUS. And people using a head pointer got triggered as well, so that's how we started offering the conductive plugs. Just put these around your head pointer's tip and you're ready to go.
