…some are very pretty and so delicate and old, it’s almost impossible to make something with them, so I came up with the idea of making them timeless, using them as an imprint for delicate textured brooches. I also decided to leave the polymer clay as it is, no surface enhancement and no color, so the lace pattern would speak for itself…
This brooch measures 50mm [1.9”] across and is about 5mm [0.2”] thick. It is handmade in polymer clay and I pressed a mould I made of vintage lace into the clay whilst it was still soft, to create intricate pattern and texture in the surface of this brooch.
It is also embroidered with ivory colored cotton thread, to add more texture to it and the back is finished with a white layer of wool felt.
A stainless steel fastener has been securely adhered to the back.
