Made from recycled red oak for the box, dowel for the tone bars, walnut for the compression bar, and a re-purposed hand rake for the tines, this is one of the most elegant sounding instruments you can play to amuse you and your friends. To play the Thumb Piano, simply press down with your thumb or index finger, and ping anyone of the 5 keys. It's just that easy!
The instrument is known by different names in different regions of a Africa, including Mbira, Mbila, Mbira Huru, Mbira Njari, Mbira Nyunga, Marimba, Karimba, Kalimba, Likembe, Okeme, as well as marÃmbula (also called kalimba) in the Caribbean Islands.
