This is a piece from an art exhibit I was part of in Chicago. I wanted to experiment with stitching alternative surfaces and, as a librarian, I chose one of my other loves - books.
First I traced the pattern on the inside of the book cover. Then I painstakingly drilled holes through the leather bound book cover that I later stitched through. Once the book cover was finished being stitched, I mounted it on top of a piece of wood that I glued and sealed collaged pages of books relating to the heart. The entire piece measures roughly 12 x 12 comes wired and ready to hang.
