The Copper Cat Wooden Bead Necklace (70) is a whimsical piece of raku fired wearable art. The Cat has a friendly facial expression that is especially endearing. The copper metallic glimmering areas of the raku glaze on this focal element, which measures 1” x 1 ¼”, contrasts with the matte areas that were left unglazed. This contrast created by the smoke and fire is a pleasing factor in the design. An interesting variety of wooden beads and a few small glass beads cover the entire length of the durable, 2mm, black, cotton cord. The cord closes in the back with an easy open, antiqued brass, lobster clasp. This necklace measures approx. 36" inches and follows the current fashion of long (opera length) necklaces. You will enjoy the cheerful interest and fun compliments that this unusual Copper Cat necklace will inspire.
Our raku beads and focal components are one of a kind. Each raku bead is handmade, original, and unique. If you would like a more detailed explanation of our raku process you can go to my profile page where additional information is posted. Many clay artists and potters favor raku passionately and they each have their own twist to the ancient method. Current raku methods are based on a 16th century Japanese technique.
Treat your lovely clay raku fired pendant as you would a treasured stone or glass item.
