The Flowering Heart Earrings were inspired by the intricate embroidery of Medieval textiles, with a nod to the traditional Irish Claddagh ring, whose heart shape surmounted by a crown symbolizes love and loyalty. They're a preview of my upcoming Spring/Summer 2011 collection.
❀MEDALLIONS❀
The earrings feature my signature handmade textile medallions, created with rich, 100% pure silk, and adorned with a tiny bouquet of lace flowers. I created each flower by hand using the finest real gold threads. Each petal was then adorned with a combination of 24k gold plated seed beads, AAA amethyst rondelles, dainty white freshwater pearls, and faceted pink quartz rondelles. For a subtle sparkle, I've stitched vintage rhinestones in the centers of some of the lace motifs. The backs of the earrings are finished off with lace rosettes.

Gorgeous AAA grade amethyst briolettes are suspended beneath the silk hearts. They are topped with handmade lace beadcaps and dainty freshwater pearls.
❀FINDINGS❀
The lace motifs are attached to high quality, 24k vermeil ear wires. All additional findings are 14k gold-filled.

My designs feature real metal threads. Not to be confused with the synthetic, metallic fibers on the market, or metal wire, they are composed of a core of thread tightly wrapped in a thin sheet of .90 silver or 24k gold over a layer of silver-plated metal. Used for centuries and reaching their zenith of popularity in the textiles of the Renaissance and Rococo eras, metal threads combine the softness of fiber with the sheen and richness of gold and silver.
