This listing is for number 7 out of a limited edition of 20 prints. As with all things handmade, there are bound to be slight differences. You will receive the very print you see in the photos, not a copy!
This intaglio etching was made on a zinc plate, using my favorite techniques; a drypoint tool for the line work, aquatint (a painstaking process using acid) to achieve the tones, roulette wheels to create patterns of dots, and a burnisher to work back into the aquatint areas. The plate and image size is 9" x 12" and the paper measures 15" x 22.5". It is printed on cream color Rives BFK with Dark Brown Graphic Chemical etching ink.
María Félix, the icon and decade-spanning Mexican film star, is also known for her extensive custom Cartier jewelry collection, including the solid gold crocodile necklace, one croc encrusted with 1,000 diamonds and the other 1,000 emeralds. Diego Rivera painted her portrait in 1949. She hated it, but held onto it and one day sold it to Juan Gabriel.
If you would like a professional acid-free mat cut for this print, it will cost an additional $20 and come with an acid-free backing ready to frame. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns or requests!
