This is another Lithuanian scratched egg I created for this Christmas
GREAT present to give a mother!! Unique and special
**If you want the egg as an ornament just tell me and I will add it. **
**The design is on of my favorites. It's more of a blanket European design. Floral is a big design that many countries utilize and adore. I re did the design to have no borders and i think it turned out pretty nice.**

This real chicken egg is hollowed and cleaned out, dyed a pastel plum, then after dried I hand drew the design on and scratched this design in a bright turquoise.
This egg I made up today for fun... i love how it turned out and I hope you do too.
New unique design!
Lithuanians call their decorated eggs "Marguciai" meaning Decorated egg. Taking a simple eggshell dyed and then just a blade to make all sorts of scenes and symbols is fascinating to me and something I am glad is now a part of my life.
The Lithuanian tradition of scratching eggs is different from other European egg crafts. Pysanky is multi-colored while Lithuanian eggs are only two colors, the color of the natural egg and the color it was dyed.
Scratching eggs is done with a simple box cutter blade. Not many people have continued this art and most eggs are in museums.
My eggs are for sale in the University of Pittsburgh Cathedral of Learning. The Cathedral of Learning is a collection of classrooms with designs and articles from each country. Lithuania is represented there.
Thank you for looking at this egg and please look at my other items!
