Baltic amber is thought to be a natural analgesic and anti-inflammatory. When worn on the skin, the warmth from the body releases a natural oil in the amber which is believed to be absorbed into the bloodstream. It is said to calm and soothe and to relieve pain. Amber is very popular as a teething and calming remedy for babies, and mama can wear this pendant while she is nursing to offer baby a chance to fiddle with the amber and soak up some of that goodness!
This particular pendant looks just like crystallized honey! It is 36mm long, 22mm wide and about 7mm thick at the widest point (just under 1.5 inches by 7/8ths of an inch wide and just over a quarter of an inch thick).
The tightly-woven cotton cord is fastened carefully with slipknots, making the necklace strong and adjustable for when you're nursing and want it to hang lower for baby. Then when you're done, you can just adjust the knots for a shorter look.
Each necklace comes in its own unbleached, cotton gift bag with the International Breastfeeding Symbol hand-stamped on it. These make a great place to store your necklace when you're not wearing it. You can just toss it in with your diaper bag and you're good to go.
