I set out to explore the Mother side of God and what I felt when I started to explore the "Goddess" that I might have needed the most in my life. As I sketched I began to find that it was a comforter I most needed, a mother-like love, a strong yet unconditional loving figure, one wise and brave who I can count on to always watch over me..... as that feeling washed over me I began to see that I wanted to create "Mary" mother of God. Perfect symbolism of all the above qualities, in my opinion, and I love her.

Created on a 16 inches tall by 11 inches wide by 3/4 inch thick plank of pine wood, I used paper, modeling paste, ink, acrylic paint, watercolor paint, colored pencil, oil pastel, and graphite pencil. It has been varnished with a high quality matte varnish. A metal sawtooth hanger was attached to the back so it is ready to display.

Her stylized face is very surreal and I gave it lots of color and dimension. The rough yet beautiful texture was the goal look for this piece. It manifested as imagined. Shabby yet pretty.
