This ring was inspired by the hit TV show " Firefly ". I got the steampunk look by using the twists and spirals of Serenity's futuristic Engine and beads that reminded me of "The Verse". The Verse is short for Universe, and it is what people in the series use when they talk about outer space. So I definitely wanted to make this ring extra futuristic and extra spectacular.
The Lampwork beads I used are a deep London blue color that have a double helix aroura borealis effect. The center of the bead has a stripe of several different colors of glass and melted sterling silver. This is a very difficult bead to make and it is beautiful. The color and design add personality to this original one of a kind ring. I also included Swarovski Crystal bicones and Czech glass fire polished AB crystals to accent and bring out the shapes. I love using crystals, the sparkle is amazing and it really frames the Lampwork beads well. The ring base itself is made of Oxidized copper, the wires used in attaching elements as well as the coiled wire is Antique Brass. They look amazing together.
