But even after we have moved back to the south here we find it is an everyday common term that people use when referring to children. We especially noticed how often our 14 year old daughter is being called it in restaurants, by teachers in school and even her friends. It is a lovely and charming expression. My father of 75 just said the other day as he was getting off the phone "Talk to you later Shug". When someone calls you shug it means they love you and in the south I thing everyone truly means it.
So if you don't have a shug in your life start a wonderful new tradition in your family!
