This print is an award winner, winning the AWARD OF EXCELLENCE at 2011's DAYTON AREA WORKS ON PAPER. This listing is for a signed and numbered limited variable edition print. I'm limiting the number of prints pulled from this block to 50, and then striking the block and finishing the carving I started on the other side of the wood block before the 60 or so hours that I spent carving these branches. The background is made by brushing thin layers of ink onto a sheet of plexiglass and making 3-4 impressions to get the gradient. The tree branches were printed on top of that in black ink on 20" x 16" handmade Japanese paper. The print bleeds off all four edges, was made using water based Akua Kolor ink and was hand pulled using a baren.
I could never really decide what color combination I wanted to use to edition this print, so I have decided to make it a variable edition, meaning each will be different. As they are hand pulled with brushed on ink, each is a one-of-a-kind original piece of artwork. There's an image with the four variations to the side - this listing is for the blue/black version shown. The print in the photograph has been sold, but the print you will receive is the same color combination and was pulled in the same batch. If you would like a photo first, please convo me.
Due to the size of the print, it will be shipped rolled and packaged in board rather than shipped flat.
Thanks for looking!
