This white Snow Queen lariat hides a magical faerie doorway disguised by long frosty icicles fallen from celestial caves. It will transport believers into the enchanted land of the fae.
Faerie portals are doorways that often appear in nature, like holed stones, dryad trees, rings of toadstools and crystal orbs, which allow travel between the world of the mundane and the world of the mysterious. Fae beings that have chosen to remain in the human world most often choose to inhabit the pristine and unsullied places left in our world, such as virgin forests, woods, thickets and groves, and hidden crystal caves and caverns. This is why such places are where most faerie portals are found, although more and more are popping up in urban locations.
I took a shimmering Celestial Crystal lead-safe clear aurora borealis (AB) finish faceted crystal donut focal filled with faerie glamour and, using white Silamide beading thread and my own seed bead mix that contains eight different shades of white in matte, crystal lined, luster, translucent and opaque finishes, I worked a peyote-stitch seed bead bail and crafted nine strands of seed bead icicles decorated with a single Czech pressed glass star in crystal AB.
The donut is 30mm (1.18”) and the bail is ¼“ by ½“ (6.35mm by 12.7mm). The longest icicle (measured starting at the bail) is 29¼” (74.295cm) and the shortest icicle is 17” (43.18cm).
This lariat will fit up to a size 18 1/8” (46.05cm) neck (length of shortest strand plus outside diameter of the donut, which is a little over one inch), but at this size will fit like a choker. Please allow 2-3” (6.08-7.62cm) for drape at the throat.
