This strikingly unusual, highly tailored art jacket sample is from the couture White Peacock Collection by MaryGwyneth Fine Wearable Art, on display at http://www.marygwyneth.com/white-peacock-collection/
The themes from the White Peacock Coat are boldly expressed, yet remain elegant and feminine in this thoughtfully designed, highly tailored, cotton corduroy jacket.
At a fine horse show, polo event, or casual dress party, you’ll catch glances from discerning elite who will appreciate the fabulous tailoring in the shapely, twenty-panel jacket body. Four panels shape each fitted bell sleeve, with silk piping “quills” in every other seam.
The soft, wheat-colored, corduroy is bias-cut, and wales matched, to suggest the diagonal texture of a peacock’s tail feathers.
The high collar gracing the neckline is cut to look like feathers, reflecting the couture White Peacock Coat in the original designer collection.
Gracing the hems are hand sewn, bias-cut silk dupioni appliques, edged in silver thread, suggesting the repeating but varied "eye" pattern in a cameo peacock’s tail.
The lining is a creamy, bias cut, satin striped jacquard silk. Three bronze-toned clasps, suggesting a peacock feather’s shape, close the front.
The jacket is fully constructed, hair canvas interlined, and seams hand-overcast to the interfacing, using traditional tailoring techniques. Dry clean.
This is an exclusive jacket for a fine wardrobe connoisseur and collector. It has 290 individual pieces of fabric and trim designed, prepared, cut, fit, and sewn to tastefully express the unusual peacock design, ten times what you see in an average jacket.
This designer original sample is for sale, bust 35", waist 26-27", hip 37".
