Shell fragments collected at the beach in Mombasa, Kenya dangle from a fringe of tubular peyote, evoking memories of the smell of the sea, the feel of coarse, shell-rich sand beneath your feet, and the warmth of the clear blue Indian Ocean water. I collected these shells while on vacation to Kenya in 2009, visiting all my old haunts. Growing up in Kenya, my family spent our two weeks vacation at cottages on the beach every year where we ate fresh coconuts and fish, and went snorkeling in the reef whenever the tides were well timed. Enjoy a small piece of that tropical paradise while wearing this unique necklace!

At the top of each piece of fringe is a wooden bead from South Africa, attached to a small length of tubular herringbone. Leather strap with adjustable knots compliments and completes this necklace.

The necklace is a maximum of 30.5 inches (77 cm) when the knots are as close together as possible, and a minimum of 17.5 inches (44 cm) when the knots are immediately next to the tubular herringbone. The fringe falls a maximum of 3.5 inches (9 cm) below the necklace, and the tubular herringbone around the leather straps is 3 1/4 inches (8 cm) wide. The leather fringe falling from the knots is 3.5 to 4 inches (9 to 10 cm).
