The idea of honeybees making sweet golden honey in the summertime has such a romantic note to it. I painted this porcelain teacup with delicately golden honey comb graphics on the front and back. The saucer has smaller pieces of honey combs on the outer edge and a little bee in the center. The little yellow and black striped bees also fly around the cup as they are hard at work! Their wings are painted in silver because I love the look of a variety of metallics together. So here on this teacup is a bit of bright gold and silver for a very charming yet elegant piece of art.
I love the idea of mismatched teacup sets and being able to create your own mix and match set. The inspiration came from a tea & sandwich shop I visited in New York (Alice’s Tea Cup) where every piece of china was different! It was beautiful and quirky and I fell in love.
Feel free to look around my shop, particularly my teacup section: http://www.etsy.com/shop/SwirlyGarden?section_id=7170619 for other teacups to add to your unique collection. If you have new design ideas, let me know! If mismatched is not your thing, I’d be happy to create a matching set of teacups for you as well. Simply contact me with your ideas.!
**This cup carries approximately 8 fluid ounces. The shape of this cup is a slightly rounded square with a circle rim. The saucer is a rounded square shape. They are dishwasher safe though I recommend hand washing when possible to further ensure durability. I use a nontoxic glass paint that is heat set for scratch proof resistance.**
