This is a kitschy cute 1950's French souvenir, with history! It is a ceramic shoe that was handpainted with an ocean scene, ship, and gulls. It comes from Malo-les-Bains beach (A part of Dunkerque-- north of Calais on the coast) Malo-les-Bains was a ninteenth century seaside area turned resort. Dunkerque (Dunkirk in English) was an area of evacuation of thousands of British soldiers during World War II.
During the 1950's many of the brave soldiers who survived the evacuation came back with their families to see Dunkerque and tourism boomed.
This unique and rare souvenir is from that era, and in pristine condition.
Measurements: 6 inches long, 2 inches wide, and 2.25 inches tall
