Mosaic Hippo Sculpture on Wheels

“Hitchin’ a Ride” is a Hippopotamus ceramic and mosaic sculpture created with a little blue bird sneaking a ride on his head. The reason behind the creation of the hippo sculpture was having a silly looking, clown-like animal with a large body to mosaic circles and spots on with the ultimate circus appearance by adding him on top of wooden axels with hand painted, wooden spoke wheels. I wanted people to look at this piece and feel as happy as a kid when the circus was in town.

As with all my creations, Hitchin’ a Ride is a handmade, signed, one-of-a-kind sculpture that can be copied, but not duplicated. Each piece is lovingly hand formed, including the handmade tiles, and is glazed with three to six coats to achieve the best color enhancement.

Approximate size: 11.5"L X 6.5"W X 8"H

Shipping can be somewhat costly due to the delicacy of the ceramics; therefore, requiring extra packaging to ensure safe arrival.
