I met the fellow i was to marry. He was my friend's roommate. Not long after we started to date, i went on a trip with my grandmother and mother to merry ole England. The tour we took, had a wide range of places to visit, I felt that the Cotswolds were the most beautiful. Without any real chance to look for trouble, i was able to find it. Pubs were as charming as could be. The houses and cottages were truly thatched and picturesque. To perhaps quote a travel writer ... they were quaint with a capital Q. My romantic sensibilities and hormones were all whipped up and in a frenzy. The romance of the gardens and the softly ruffled clothes brought me home with a fresh appreciation of what i might like in my own little white cottage with a picket fenced in garden. By the way, 26 yrs later I still live in a red bungalow with the most pathetic garden except for the stunning arching vines of peace roses growing in my side yard.
