The process begins by hand sanding the egg until it is silky smooth, removing all the bumps and grooves. making it so that the pores are barely noticeable. It also reveals a deeper, chaulkier layer of the egg that will allow the dyes to take more evenly and with greater intensity.
This is the actual egg that was published in the book "A Showcase of Decorated Eggs" by Cheryl Hall. A dreamy scene of butterflies dancing above a flower garden. Some of the butterflies include a Red-Spotted Purple, Monarch, and a Tiger Swallowtail. There is also a quaint little buzzing Bumble Bee, a lovely Ladybug and a Luna Moth. The pysanka is etched to enhance the design so that the butterflies seem to float above the pretty blue sky.
Created in 2008, this egg was previously sold but was replaced with a copy due to a small chip around the hole. You can see this tiny flaw in the photos and thus this is the reason for the reduced price.
