There aren't many blue seashells in the world. I'm lucky enough to live in Maine, where blue mussels are so plentiful that in winter the noise I hear most frequently on the beach (other than the waves) is the 'thump ... thump .... thump ...' of seagulls dropping them on the stones to crack them open.
