I choose the cardboard for each piece by carefully studying the color, texture, and surface variations. Every piece of cardboard that you see, and many that you can't see on the completed piece, is cut and meticulously glued on. And I love the colors!
I treat the cardboard sculpture with an acid neutralizing spray, and construct with archival glue. On occasion I use gesso, which is archival. I have been working with cardboard for 14 years, and clients tell me those pieces are still in fine shape!
My pieces are all hand cut, hand fitted and hand assembled and glued. I do not use a robo cutter.

When I find a cherry colored box, I have to do something really special. At Christmas I was also given a box of Italian cookies. The cookies were so-so, but the box was spectacular! Both of these boxes set the tone for this deliciously decadent Swiss pastry.
