On New Year's Day I scrambled down the snowy rocks for a cold stroll along the frozen cove. Ice floes left behind by the retreating tide balanced precariously on a granite outcrop. I hunted until my boots began to leak, then scurried back to the warm car and headed home for hot chocolate.
