I value high quality handmade paper; therefore I make high quality handmade paper. My skill at papermaking was learned while I was completing a masters degree and I relish in the science of papermaking.
Our paper is made from 100% cotton and is not a recycled paper. This means our fiber length is as long as it possibly can be. Each time paper is recycled the fiber length shortens, especially if you use a blender to make pulp. The longer the fiber length the stronger the paper.
At Maple Street Paper Co, we calculate and control the amount of sizing we use, to make sure our handmade paper will not bleed when used.
We also add a buffer to our paper so it resists acid.
Our handmade paper is dried flat.
