This dress was professionally preserved and came to me in a box with a registration card included. A picture of the dress, as well as a certification stating when it was preserved gives this dress a solid wear date of 1949.
The satin underskirt is a very heavy, very shiny satin. I would guess it is a silk fiber rather than rayon. Fastens in the back with many fabric covered buttons down the back.
This dress is not without problems, though. The tulle on the bottom needs mending, though more importantly, the lace is all intact. The wearer of the dress was short, as well. She was also slim, as the dress has a 26" waist and a 34" bust. The dress form is a size 3 to 4, and it fits snug. I found two small rust spots on the lace.
This is a truly luxurious fairly tale dress and it makes an impression. As the model walked through the hotel lobby, activity stopped, heads turned and flattering comments were heard.
