In early 2008 I participated in a show called "Rock City Dirt City," and the result was a lengthy op-art historical flow chart and database (450 or so bands, at least 2000 members) documenting what the city could remember about Edmonton's rock, pop and experimental music scene since 1956. Last year I moved to Montreal and started feeling my Edmonton scene history cred diminishing, and thought it a good time to make good on the "in-progress" part of the project's title and update the project.

So, this is an update of that chart. It's a giant 304" long paper timeline that's 17" tall, and it chronicles the history of Edmonton, Canada's, music scene from 1950 to 2010. It improves on the previous version it by eight years, three dozen bands, three feet in length and 5" in height. It (again) combines my love for stats and lists of names with my love of lines, music and and local history, and it's reproduced on a single sheet of 20 lb white bond via plotter printer. It's also in convenient scroll form at an accessible cost.
