This vintage book is "edited with suggestions for study by Louis Untermeyer" and was published by Harcourt, Brace and Company. This book was first copyrighted in 1922 and this is the third printing in 1928.

It includes Modern American poetry: Walt Whitman, Edwin Markham, Amy Lowell, Carl Sandburg and many more. Also included is Modern British Poetry: William Butler Yeats, Kipling, John Drinkwater, and Siegfried Sassoon, to name just a few.

It has pencil writing in the table of contents and a bit of shorthand on a page in the very back. I wish I understood shorthand! It has the owner's stamp on the first and last page.

I love its vintage look! The red cover is faded and the pages are yellowed, but it is still bound together well and is perfectly readable. It is so nice to find a really old book that was loved and read like this one was.

Measures 7 1/2" tall x 5" wide and 1 1/4" thick. There are 496 pages, which includes blank pages for "other poems I like". Table of contents and index.

Enjoy!
