8.5"x11" Insomnia

This is an 8.5"x11" image of an smoke-fired ceramic piece entitled Insomnia, and was a part of a body of work called Trial by Fire. I hand built this ceramic pillow with bird out of white earthenware clay, and smoke-fired it in a sawdust pit. This process can cause cracking, which I decided to preserve in this piece, and offers a rich smoke stained surface.
