Who's Robert H. Goddard?
Robert Goddard was a physicist, an inventor, and a professor. Although Goddard built the first liquid-fueled rocket ever, the impact of his work, like that of many other Famous Seniors, was not fully realized until after his death. Goddard's work in the field of rocket science paved the way for spaceflight.
This space exploration inspired design features an image of Goddard in the foreground set against a bold background comprised of images of a space shuttle in flight, the moon, and Mars. These images are symbolic of the dreams, hopes, and realities of our space exploration program. Goddard, the Father of Modern Rocketry, reminds us that today's reality was, at one time, nothing more than a dream.
