My family lived on McNeil Island for about ten years- the longest I've ever lived in one place. It was also home to one of, if not the last, island prisons in the US.
In January of 2011, the prison was closed down due to budget cuts, and all of the island residents were made to leave.
There was a lot of response to the first few comics I made about the island
( http://tragicrelief.blogspot.com/2010/12/mcneil-island-memoriam.html )
so much so that Annie Koyama and Koyama Press ( www.koyamapress.com ) generously offered to fund the printing of a mini comic about my last trip to the island and the closing ceremonies.
The book is saddle stitched, 7x6", 48 pages, b+w with a color cover.
