I created this special batt for the Phat Fiber Sample Box. February's theme is Gems and Minerals and when I think of gems, I think of all the swirling colors and bejeweled opulence of Dancing Gypsies! These batts hold a special little secret, they have goodies incorporated in a way that make it super easy for even a beginning spinner to create a beaded, tail spun art yarn, with lots of texture. I'll include directions/tips for spinning this batt which will liberate you from the belief that art yarn spinning is for others, if you're not already, I'll bet this batt will have you searching for goodies and textured fiber to add to your spinning palette. These mini art batts are great to have on hand when you need a quick grab and go project for spinning group because all the fun spin-in elements are right there, no muss, no fuss. They make great gifts for your spinning/felting friends and it would make a fun addition to a swap package too!
This art batt is blend of shimmering jewel tone metallic blending fibers along with hand beaded strands of metallic thread, Finn sheep top hand painted in the Dancing Gypsies! color palette, alpaca locks, Lincoln locks, silk noil, recycled sari silk, merino, textured ribbons fuchsia, ruby and wisteria Angelina, and amethyst and sapphire Pizzazz.
The roving is hand painted Finn Sheep in the Dancing Gypsies! color palette, Sari Silk, Merino, and a wisper of Ruby Angelina.

As with any wool/natural fibers, this should be hand washed in tepid water, lay flat to dry.
