She measures about 12" long from nose to tail, and less than 4" from her elbows to the top of her head. Made from plaster of Paris and gauze on a newspaper core, Melusinia is very fragile and not intended as a plaything. (Perhaps why she feels the need to escape the area?) She's been painted with acrylics, and sealed with a water-based acrylic; so although she *is* a mermaid, she prefers not to get wet.
Her wooden treasure box is about 5" x 3.5" x 2.5", covered in a blended blue-green polymer clay, bits of shell, worn sea glass, a shiny glass bauble, and a wash of green acrylic paint that mimics the algae covered rocks of her homelake, Lake Ontario. She did pack it with a few mementos, but she wouldn't tell me what; I only hope she didn't put in her favorite sushi, as that really might not keep well during shipping.
