Button flowers take on a new look with bright, colorful yo-yos. Alight bulb went off at a quilt guild meeting this month. My favorite quilt shop owners had a magazine featuring button flowers. The addition of a fabric yo-yo to the button flowers resulted in this absolutely cute bouquet. This is the perfect way to add a spark of color to their button flowers and use some of those tiny scraps I just can’t throw away. Oh, the possibilities!
Each yo-yo is created in my new yo-yo maker before hand stitching to form the flower. Wire is used to add a button or two to each yo-yo. The button selection comes from my giant button box. The box was passed down from my great aunt decades ago. It still contains some of those vintage choices plus the hundreds I’ve added over the years.
The bouquet is completely hand sewn and includes a total of six flowers: three 1.5” and three 1”...plus a bonus tinny tiny flower. Stems are approximately eight inches long but can be easily cut or bent if need. Bouquet only, vase and pitcher not included.
Not intended for small children. Created in my smoke free, pet free home studio.
