"Michelle" was inspired by a friend that was due to give birth any day. The sculpture is also representative of the 'birthing process' that an artist goes through in creating works of art. For me, "Michelle" was a challenge in skill that was met with great success. Many mistake her for a wood sculpture because her colored wax surface has a mahogany tone to it. She is built using the technique of coil building. To achieve the extended pregnant belly, there is an infrastructure of 'support beams' made of more coils.
