Quite the chic 'Rita Hayword' style outfit -- the lovely two piece set has wonderful couture-like craftsmanship with fine hand stitching and attention to detail – and was once a part of the Brooklyn Museum's costume collection, with a period date of 1940 provided.
It consists of a black crepe cocktail dress with 'nude' voile illusion bodice trimmed with a delicate array of decorative beaded swags of amber colored seed beads and diamond shaped sequins, which appear to be cut by hand.
The dress has a jewel neckline which ties in back, cap style sleeves, hidden metal side zipper, and ruching at the waist for creating a soft draping effect.
The accompanying peplum style jacket has short sleeves, self covered buttons, nipped waist, and hand stitched silk lining along the back and shoulders.
There are a few small faint spots on the bodice (see last close-up pics), but hard to see and don't detract.
Very good condition and well preserved -- with all beading sequins intact.
Please note measurements as follow and be sure to allow for ease.
