Great little chartreuse/brown ceramic box or planter, attributed to La Mirada pottery. While unmarked, the purposeful crackle glaze, green color, bottom shape and overall design are very similar to other La Mirada pieces we have.
At first we thought this was a small box planter, but it almost looks like it was meant as a desk utility box, perhaps for business cards. We've tried fitting some cards in and they do barely fit, though in the middle where the box is pinched the cards need to be tilted slightly.
In excellent condition with no major damage. As said previously, this crazing is purposeful and was a popular technique with California potteries in the 40s and 50s.
Box measures about 3.25" x 2.25" and about 2.5" tall.
